I got the impression from the manga that the scene was suppose to be awkward because the last time they were ever together they were trying to betray and kill each other.  This scene is more "Hey, Sakura, I'm here" rather then " uh . . . Sakura . . .".  I think he spoke too quick.  At least give a pause when he first looks at her before he speaks.  Just my suggestion.
